Belarusian is an East Slavic language spoken natively by about five million people in Belarus, closely related to Russian and Ukrainian and shaped by centuries of Polish and Lithuanian cultural influence. French is used as a working language at the UN, EU, and dozens of international bodies, plus extensive publishing, media, and government use across the global Francophonie.
