Azerbaijani is a Turkic language spoken by around twenty-three million people in Azerbaijan and northwestern Iran, mutually intelligible with Turkish and historically influenced by Persian and Russian. Azerbaijani literature includes the medieval poet Nizami Ganjavi (writing in Persian) and the sixteenth-century mystic Fuzuli, whose divan poetry remains foundational. Simplified Chinese is the universal written form for mainland China's media, publishing, government, education, and the world's largest e-commerce and social media platforms.
