Bosnian is a South Slavic standard variety of Serbo-Croatian spoken by about three million people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, mutually intelligible with Croatian and Serbian but distinguished by Turkish loanwords. Afrikaans is used daily in South African media, literature, and as a home language for several ethnic communities, including white Afrikaners and Coloured South Africans.
