Korean is the language of the Korean peninsula, spoken by about eighty million people, written in the scientifically designed Hangul alphabet created by King Sejong the Great in 1443. Translation between a Koreanic source and a Romance target demands careful attention to word order, modality, and politeness systems, because the two families encode information in fundamentally different ways.
